Project 1

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. This Cyanotype is the first project assigned in this class. We were tasked with creating a Photoshop collage of an interest, hobby, or subject that represents a facet of our lives. To start, I found a collection of 10 images from Unsplash that surround skiing, as it has become a passion that holds increasing meaning to me. I then uploaded the photos to Photoshop and began removing the backgrounds. When I finished, I started creating the collage you see today. I really wanted to incorporate the mountain where I grew up, so I found their logo and made it transparent, allowing it to fade into the background of a steep mountain range. The birds represent Chickadee Ridge, a fun trail located in a small nook of the mountain, where you could feed the birds. The skier doing a trick represents my decision to do racing, as I cannot do tricks while skiing. All the other elements of this collage represent the different aspects of Loon that I love and remember. Once the collage was done, I printed it inverted and in black and white on a transparent sheet, then placed it on cyanotype paper to complete the final look.
